Profile
Marie McCausland is a Certified Doula, Certified Lactation Consultant, and maternal health advocate whose work bridges science, storytelling, and systems change. She holds a PhD and an MPH, and brings a rare combination of scientific training, public health expertise, and lived experience to her work supporting families and institutions. Marie has spoken nationally on maternal health, patient safety, and postpartum care, including as a TEDx speaker, an invited educator with Babies and Bumps, and a guest on the Papa PhD Podcast, where she discussed maternal leave and institutional policy change.
Marie’s work is deeply shaped by her own experiences with severe postpartum complications, which led her to center storytelling as a tool for education, prevention, and advocacy. She is the creator and performer of Perigon: A Birth Story, an original stage work exploring maternal morbidity, survival, and transformation, and the Founder & CEO of Doulify—a platform designed to connect families to their local village of trusted support. Through speaking, education, and employer partnerships, Marie focuses on making maternal health support accessible, actionable, and rooted in equity, with the belief that clear, responsible storytelling can save lives and drive meaningful institutional change.
